Second part of my makeup review of my current foundations and concealers, in this post I'll be talking about some of my current concealers...Enjoy!
FYI:
Skin tone- Warm/Medium/Tan
Skin Type- Oily/Normal (oily T-Zone, normal everywhere else)
1- NARS Creamy Concealer - Ginger
Price: £24
Type: Liquid
Coverage: Medium-Full buildable
I heard this NARS concealer was a good dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape seeing as we don't have Tarte cosmetics in the UK I decided to buy this concealer. It comes with a doe-foot applicator and is good for the under-eye area to conceal dark circles. The colour matches me pretty well as I tend to use concealers that are a shade lighter than my foundation.
Pro's:
-Good coverage
-Nice texture
-Good shade range
Con's:
-Creases under the eye if you use too much
2&3- Maybelline Eye erase - Honey & Nude
Price: £8.99 in drugstores
Type: Liquid with built in applicator
Coverage: light/medium
This is another one that beauty bloggers raved about so I thought I would give it a go. I initially bought nude but it looked a bit too light when I used it under my eyes, so I went and bought honey which is good under foundation, sometimes I do wear it on its own, depending on how tanned I am I use either nude or honey or both. It comes at a pretty decent price compared to others but the coverage isn't great. I'm not a big fan of the built in applicator as I feel the concealer doesn't come out properly, I can't apply it how I want to and you cant clean it.
Pro's:
-Cheap
-Good for light coverage
-Includes Goji Berry & Haloxyl which are supposed to be anti-aging and fade dark circles over time
Con's:
-Annoying built in applicator
-Not good for covering dark circles
4- MAC Select Cover-up - NC42
Price: £16.50
Type: Liquid
Coverage: Medium buildable
I was matched this a while a go in MAC because I wanted a concealer to cover spots and acne marks, and I'm not sure why I was matched to this colour as it's a shade darker than my foundation (maybe it was during the summer?) Anyway, its a pretty good lightweight concealer, very runny compared to the others. Good for covering specific areas like blemishes but not very good to use under the eyes.
Pro's:
-Covers small spots and acne scars
-Lightweight texture
Con's:
-Not great coverage
-Cakey under the eyes under foundation
5- MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer- NC35
Price: £16.50
Type: Cream
Coverage: Medium-Full buildable
This is my go to concealer to conceal around my eyebrows. It's a cream concealer so pretty rubbish under the eyes as it creases a lot, but it's perfect to conceal around your brows to give you fleeky, sharp and precise brows. I don't pluck or thread my brows so to get a nice brow I just fill it in with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and conceal with this concealer and a small, flat brush, once I'm done I just blend out with a fluffy brush.
It can become a little bit dry so you may need to warm it up with your fingers first.
Pro's:
-Very good creamy coverage
-Perfect for precise concealing (eyebrows)
Con's:
-Creases like crazy if used under the eyes
-Not transfer proof so you must set it with a powder
-Can dry out a bit
6- MAC Conceal & Correct Duo- Rich Yellow
Price: £20.50
Type: Liquid
Coverage: Light & Bright
Not sure if this should even be in this post, but it makes a huge difference to my concealing under-eye game. It's a duo colour corrector, you are supposed to use the burnt coral as a colour corrector and the rich yellow to highlight and brighten. This product is amazing for under-circles and hyperpigmentation. I was matched the shades in a MAC store and when I want full coverage, bright under eye's where you can't see the dark circles at all this is what I use.
I use the yellow on top of my corrector, concealer, foundation and it just brightens up my whole under eye area, it's also great for highlighting down the bridge of my nose.
I may do a whole separate review on this product, but add it to your concealer regime and you might just thank me!
