Review | Sunnah Clothing

If you read my last post you'll know that I'm going for umrah in April with my family inshaAllah, so I thought I would invest in atleast one new abaya that was loose, comfortable and completely covering without worry. I was thinking of getting the floor length khimar from head to toe but they all looked like you would have to wear another abaya or scarf underneath which I know would make me over heat. So I went for the next best thing a butterfly abaya. It got sent to the wrong address by our silly postman but the man who got it came round at 7pm today to drop it off...see there are still some decent people left in the world alhamdulillah, may Allah guide him.

I bought this one from Sunnah Clothing for £25 it came within around a week even with the Xmas break. I think it was a very price worthy buy because it is soooo comfortable, the fabric is lightweight yet completely opaque...I've been sitting in it for the past 5 hours =S my mum thinks it's because I'm trying to get used to walking around with it, but it's because it's so comfy (= Guess the only problem with it is it's slightly too long but I can live with that, also some of the fabric under the hem is frayed, to fix that all I gotta do is cut off the excess thread...problem solved. All in all lovely abaya, good price & delivery.

Here are the pics you've been waiting for....

Buttons on the sleeves

Zip from the neck
My theory is the looser fitting your clothing is the less hot you will feel so inshaAllah this should be great for the Arabian heat (=

Remember me & my family in your du'as (=

Review | Aquaini - Burkini/Modest swimwear

Salaam sisters!

I was sent a burkini from the company Aquaini to review and tell you guys all about.

When I first received the burkini I was pleasantly surprised with how it actually looked and felt like a swimming costume. The burkini itself is made from swimming costume material which means it performs when it comes into contact with water.

The burkini comes as a 2 part, a tunic top with an integrated hijab/hood and trousers. The tunic top comes with a strap and the trousers come with buttons on the side. This is to make sure the top doesn't ride up and expose you when blown by the wind or in water.

The hijab/hood is attached to the tunic top but I would have preferred to be able to detach it so that I had the option to wear it or not.

When I wore this burkini on holiday to Turkey it was great because I I didn't look too out of place in it. The hood/hijab looked a bit funny especially with my hair in a bun, I didn't like the way that looked so I wore a hijab on top, you could easily tie your hijab into a turban style so it looks better but your neck will still be covered. The hood hijab was too loose for my liking and I found that it tended to slip off and my hair came out the sides.

I understand that the trousers were wide for modesty purposes but it's not very practical to swim in. Due to the legs being wide when the waves came the trouser leg went up and exposed my legs. They also flapped around when I tried to swim in it. An alternative would be to have an option for legging like trousers that don't ride up.

The material is very good quality as it dries quickly in the sun, is durable and will last you many years.

I hope you found this review helpful inshaAllah. Let me know what you think of modest swimwear as well inshaAllah.

How to make your dreams come true

We all have dreams, some big, some small, some which we will accomplish inshaAllah (God willing) and others we wont (and that's ok Alhamdulillah). Sometimes we just sit and keep daydreaming about it without actually being proactive and looking for ways to make those dreams a reality...

How to make your dreams come true:

Step 1: Make a list of all your dreams...

Step 2: Pick one dream & scale that dream right down and see what practical steps you could take on a personal level to get you on your way

Step 3: Think how can you involve your family and local community to get behind you and help out?

Step 4: Be proactive, don't think someone else will do it or you are not capable of it. Be creative & take baby steps but don't ever stop, keep moving forward.

Step 5: Always make lots of sincere du'a, from the initial thought all the way through and after you have accomplished it or part of it

Step 6: Move onto the next one and repeat

With these steps you need lots of self belief, don't ever let the shaytaan make you feel like you cant do something. It's shaytaans job to make you feel hopeless so don't give him the satisfaction inshaAllah.

What is one of your dreams (big or small)? Lets see if we as an online sisterhood can help you achieve that one dream...

One of mine is to set up a hospital/health centre in a poorer country/community offering free health care because I dislike the fact that just because someone can't pay for an antibiotic they have to die of something easily treatable ....

Steps to making that a reality:

1- Personal level- Study really hard and get the best qualifications now
2- Family & community level- Drum up support from family & community members, get businesses and people with more 'know how' on board
3- Greater level- get sponsorship, do research and get out there and do it!

Allah will not change the situation for a people unless they change themselves, so before we try to jump the gun and dive into our projects to make our dream come true we need to look at ourselves and see what we can do to change ourselves and our families first. Start small and work out. I really believe we can change the world but it starts from within then moves onto the people around us and then inshaAllah to the rest of the world.

That's how Islam spread, the prophet pbuh (an illiterate man, who was not a king or a leader) told his family and his friends about Islam, he then spread it to the people around him and the people in his community and now the religion has spread accross the seven seas and all continents with 1.5 Billion followers and counting Alhamdulillah. [Then again he (pbuh) was a prophet and had a divine message to spread, but lets use his example iA, it's the best one we've got]

There are people who will make du'a and leave it at that but Allah has blessed us with so much and du'a is not enough, we need to use the things available to us to make our dreams come true. We all pray for the end to poverty but many of do nothing about it actively, we even think twice before donating to charity.

There is a story I remember from our Religious education classes at school about a man who prayed. There was a flood and the man prayed to God to save him, he was devout and believed 100% God would save him. A rescue boat came to rescue the man and he refused to get on, saying God will save him. As the water flooded his house he moved onto the roof and a helicopter came to rescue him but he insisted God would save him...I don't know how the story ends but the moral of the story is God sent ways for the man to be rescued but he ignored all the signs and relied on faith alone.

One day Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) noticed a Bedouin leaving his camel without tying it and he asked the Bedouin, “Why don’t you tie down your camel?” The Bedouin answered, “I put my trust in Allah.” The Prophet then said, “Tie your camel first, then put your trust in Allah” (At-Tirmidhi).
Faith is not so black and white, Allah gives us a brain so lets not be lazy with it and actually think of ways to change our situation and make our dreams come true. The things we have been blessed with are not ours they are gifts from Allah so lets use them for the greater good, for His sake. You will be held accountable for how you used all your wealth and possessions so use it wisely. The computer you're using right now is a blessing, use it the right way and make something amazing happen today, make your dreams come true.

I mean look at the revolutions in the Arab Spring, the revolution started because people finally realised that by the will of Allah they could change their situation, they made du'a and they decided to take action as well and that's the only way dreams come true.

And that man can have nothing but what he strives for. (An-Najm 53:39)

When I talk of dreams I mean dreams to benefit society and humanity not selfish dreams. Our ultimate dream is to go to Jannah and the steps to achieving that dream are in the Quran.

Remember even if your dream doesn't come true, maybe it was just not supposed to be, that's your fate but if you never try then there is no chance you'll make them come true. Allah is the best of planners and Allah knows best. The most amazing thing about it all is that we will be rewarded for even just having the intention to do something good, the more we sacrfice, strive and struggle for it the more we're rewarded for it, so don't despair, dream big and do your best, you've got nothing to lose.

Don't just dream, make it happen inshaAllah!

Review | Hijab Pinz

Assalaamu alaikum lovely ladies,

Today I'm going to do a little review in a new company called Hijab Pinz. They're a small company based in Cardiff-Wales selling really cute, affordable hijab pins and pin cushions. I received a SUPER adorable cup cake pin cushion which is the CUTEST thing ever and some gorgeous straigh hijab pins.

Packaging: ✰ 5/5

All of the hijab pins came in separate little organza pouches, they were wrapped in pink tissue paper with a ribbon on it. I LOVE those extra little touches to an order because it shows that the company has put a lot of thought and effort into everything. This was one off my favourite packages I have ever received and would make an ideal gift.

Delivery: ✰ 5/5

I cannot fault hijab pinz on anything postage & packaging related because they truly have done an amazing job mashaAllah. The package was sent on Monday and arrived on Tuesday. So if you live in mainland UK you should get your package within 3 days iA.

Customer Service: ✰ 5/5

Like everything else about this company I am very impressed withthe customer service, I was treated very well by the sister who runs a company, she was very polite and helpful, always letting me know what was happening with my package and when it should arrive. From what I have seen from other customers on their FB page I have to say that customer service is impeccable at hijab pinz.

Prices: ✰ 4/5

The prices are amazing, as I kept saying in the video review they are just so affordable. There are many companies out their selling even just standard pins for high prices, the prices on these pins and pin cushion and cheap but are great quality for the price.

Cupcake Pin cushion: £1.50
Pink diamonte: 10 for £1
Clear diamonte: 3 for £1
Mini bow pins:  5 for £1
White pearl & pink heart pin prices: TBC

Products: ✰ 4/5

As you can see from the pictures above the pins themselves are gorgeous, I love them all. My favourite have to be the mini bow pins, they are just incredibly cute and very 'me' they add a little something pretty and girly to your hijab without being over the top and attracting unwanted attention. The pins are come in 2 sizes, your standard hijab pin size (the bows, pink diamonte ones and white pearl ones) and a longer size (clear diamonte and pink heart ones). The longer ones are really good for if you're wearing layered scarves or a thick scarf. The only problem I have with some of the pins (i.e. the diamonte ones) is that you can't really see them properly when you put it in your scarf.

The cupcake pin cushion was my favourite thing out of all the products I was sent, such a unique and adorable idea, now both my sisters and my mum want one. My lil bro calls it nom nom because he thinks you can really eat it lol it's just too cute!

Overall: ✰ 5/5

They are a really down to earth lovely company with amazing products which are well worth the prices. Would I recommend them? In a heartbeat! Amazing company mashaAllah. I wish this company all the best for the future, inshaAllah they will be a great success. You can order through their FB fanpage by sending them an email with the order. All questions and queries will be replied to on there (link at end of post)
